Amigos of JDN: Meet Our People!
Dear amigos, we always have said that Joya de Nicaragua would be nothing without its people; it’s because of them, their resilience, passion, craftsmanship, and loyalty that we are standing and growing each day. Today we want to introduce you to three members of our team, three beloved Amigos of JDN.
Juana Alfaro: Packaging
Juana Alfaro is part of the JDN family since 1986. Her coworkers say that she spreads her smile among her companions. She’s very dedicated and passionate about her work; she even does a little dance every once in a while. Also, in her spare time, she likes to watch television programs and visit her sister on Sundays; she likes to go shopping and spend time doing housework.
Alberto Martínez: Head of the Production Floor
Currently, he spends his free time with his three children and wife. Alberto is a man of strong convictions when it comes to Faith, he enjoys the activities of the Church he visits, he even expresses that he dedicates his time mainly to adorating God.
Doña Martha Gutiérrez: Head of Human Resources.
Doña Martha started as a roller in 1969. Leaf by leaf, cigar by cigar, Doña Martha learned to listen to tobacco. And after working her way to the top of the ladder (or in Joya de Nicaragua’s case, the front of the rolling gallery, where the most senior bunchers and rollers work) she rolled her last cigar in 1980 and headed into the administrative side of the business, nowadays she is the Head of Human Resources.
She is described as a very fashionable person, you can’t help but notice Doña Martha’s fingernails always decorated and painted in beautiful colors. She’s proud of them because as a cigar roller, she wasn’t allowed long, beautifully painted nails
