Back in 2001, Joya de Nicaragua felt the need to relaunch itself with a new game-changer cigar, just like it did back in the 1970’s with the ‘Joya de Nicaragua’, known today as the Clásico. Therefore, this new Joya de Nicaragua Antaño 1970 was created to celebrate the rich heritage and worldwide renown JDN enjoyed in the 1970’s, and marks a return to those glorious days.
The Antaño is crafted exclusively by hand and entirely of Nicaraguan harvested tobaccos. This cigar is an ultra robust spicy smoke with earthy finish, unbridled body and aroma, which showcases the authentic Nicaraguan “Puro”.
1) Bourbon and Broad Leaf
“From the moment I spark this beauty up to the moment I put it out, it was nothing but an utter delight. My hat is off to Joya de Nicaragua for creating such a splendid cigar at such an affordable price. I am happy to say the Joya de Nicaragua Antaño 1970 proudly deserves a 9.8 and everyone should find it, buy it and try it!“

2) Cigar Aficionado
“The 2002 release of the Joya de Nicaragua Antaño line energized the slumbering Joya de Nicaragua brand. The filler is aged for five years and the wrappers are the most select from the Nicaraguan criollo seed used to wrap the line.”
3) Stogie Guys
Over the years I’ve always kept some Antaño 1970s on hand. They provide a great deal of flavor, enjoyment, strength, and consistency—especially for such a reasonable price.
4) Cigars Jedi
“Overall, this is an exceptional cigar and the Lancero is the third size of the 1970 Antaño line that I have smoked, and is by far my favorite. The wrapper on the 1970 Antaño is a very fragrant and flavorful leaf that really shines in the smaller ring gauge.”

5) Talking Tobacco
“The flavor of this stogie is explosive. Big hits of dark coffee, sweet wood, leather and black and red pepper flood the taste buds, and there’s an occasional hint of sulfur that enhances the overall flavor profile. The complexity of the Antaño is one of its hallmarks, and the flavors only intensify as it goes.”
6) Stogies on the Rocks
“There is a reason I have smoked this Joya de Nicaragua Antaño 1970 many times in my life; it is really good! I thoroughly enjoy the flavor profile, strength, construction, and price.”

9) Cigar Obsesssion
“This 6×54 stick features a dark chocolate mottled wrapper with a very firm even back, small veins, tight invisible seams, a slightly oily dusty fell and damp chocolate aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with plentiful medium bodied smoke showing flavors of a smooth creamy textured spicy tobacco with a bit of pepper and grit through the long finish.”
